🌠A Dose of Inspiration - Issue No 6

Hello friends and family!

Let's start today off by reminding you to

take a deep breath

. Breath in deeply and let out all the heaviness from daily life. Now that I have you in a calm space, we can begin this week's adventure.

Before I forget,

hello and welcome

to the new subscribers. Thank you for joining us on this weekly adventure for a

Dose of Inspiration

and tips to

Create A Life You Love and Go Live It

.

The theme of this week is Life.

Yes, the entirety of it all (I am joking). From the day you were born, you have been exploring each day and figuring things out.

Do you remember that one moment that you shared your food?

Growing up in South Africa, each break at school we would swop lunches or at least 1 part of your sandwich would be exchanged with a friend.

3 years back I was on a small bus in the countryside of South Korea. There were only 4 people including the driver on the bus, the other 2 people were in their 80's and were from tiny farming communities outside my town. As we were driving along, this elderly woman leans over to me and hands me some fruit.

Now to get the full picture, she speaks Korean and I speak ....English, Afrikaans, some Spanish (enough to ask you to dance) and as for my Korean...I speak enough to survive, so there was no deep conversation, only a "

Kamsahamnida

 (감사합니다)", meaning thank you.

But at this moment we had a chance to connect, smile, and recognize each other.

(Click HERE to see the exact town where I lived in South Korea)

The pandemic gave us facemasks to hide our smiles and distance to keep us safe, yet the need to connect is still very much there for a lot of people.

This week, I invite you to try these 3 things:

  1. Ask someone how their day is going? This could be the cashier at the store, the neighbor across the road, or a friend who you call.

  2. Give someone a genuine compliment. " The way you lead that Zumba session for Love Week kicked ass, you have grown so much since your first session and I am happy to witness you shine" (This is for Greta, who gave me Zumba happiness today)

  3. Share your food. It's a small token of happiness to others and a bigger lesson in fixing the world.

(Also please wear a facemask and keep safe)

Remember each week, we are just moving one tiny step forward to creating a life you love.

Are you fit to lead the next generation?

Last week, I was confronted on 2 occasions to really think about what a leader should be, what qualities they should have when pursuing a path of leadership, or if they are placed in a position of leadership.

Meet

 André Chiang,

he is a Taiwanese chef and he restored my faith in good humans.

I will summerise his leadership:

He offered a job to a pastry chef, this chef got into a severe car accident and could not start when he needed him to, as he could not walk or move his fingers.

  • André told him, he would wait.

  • He would wait until he could walk again and create.

  • He inspired him by telling him to come and sit in the kitchen, while he was in a wheelchair because his brain still works and he could use it to create recipes.

  • André runs a Michelin star restaurant, yet his staff starts fresh without training.

"This is the leadership we need in the world, people who genuinely care about the ones around them, and do their bit to empower them"

Artists Who Inspire

Artist: Kal Gajoum

"I see myself standing there, in New York, in Venice....in Quebec, selfishly...I want to be part of his art"

This is what I love the most about art! It allows me to dream and be taken to space or a place far from where I am. Kal Gajoum is so famous that stumbling on his Instagram almost seems unreal. I found this gem on Youtube and I would like to invite you and your imagination on a ride for your senses.

Song of the week

It's so light and beautiful! It's like a Sunday drive next to the ocean on a summer's day with the windows rolled down. Headphones on and groove with it. Ride this musical wave by these amazing French producers. (click HERE for their Facebook page and go check out more musical sessions)

In case you don't have Spotify, HERE is the Youtube link to it. (Say a prayer for the one who made this possible, Brian)
