💫 A Dose of Inspiration
Hello friends and family,
Ending my week and probably kick-starting yours. I had quite an adventure in the last few days…a flight from Chile to Colombia, 48 hours total… stuck at immigration, moved to a waiting area, made to wait for 24 hours then put back on a flight to Chile.
Anyway back in Chile now. I am safe, warm, and happy…will be here until I sort out this visa for Colombia.
The theme of this week is “Self- soothing”
I know one of the biggest tools that we are lacking is the ability to self-soothe and regulate our emotions. Over the last few years, I had the opportunity to try out several tools and learn the theory behind it. Some worked great and got me out of an anxious and panic state.
However, they were only put into practice in work situations and maybe a few light-life moments. Until Wednesday…
At midnight on Wednesday, I was moved from the immigration office to the waiting area. A cold terminal underneath the main terminal at the airport. It’s the first floor in line with the ground crew working outside to usher in planes, unpack and pack bags, and clear the runway.
When I arrived I saw a young woman crying, she had been there for 2 days and had no resolution for when she could go home. Another man had been there for 3 days. These were only 2 of the many.
I immediately assessed the situation and realized panic, stress, and emotions that overwhelm me would not help. This is the foundational mindset training.
Here is a quick framework for you to use:
What is the current situation and what emotions are coming up?
Will those emotions help or hinder me right now?
Can I choose a calm state? If not, do I have the tools to get myself into a calm state?
Since I knew there was nothing I could do I simply made a little island for myself on the floor near the security guards and turned that 24 hours into an adventure. I used tapping, visualization, guided meditation, movement, and some salsa to keep me in a good space. These worked for this situation.
Your task this week:
Take a moment to think about your life. Are you fully equipped with tools to self-regulate yourself?
If not, what is 1 thing that you can start practicing?
Life will happen …it’s just a matter of are you equipped to deal with it or not.
Remember each week, we are just moving one tiny step forward to creating a life you love.
More on self-regulation…One of the missing tools from our school system. If you are a parent or educator this would be something to take into consideration for your kids. Do they have the tools to equip them with living in this ever-changing world?
Artists Who Inspire
Alison Lara Vega

I only had a quick moment to meet Alison and praise her work. I found her selling her art at a market along a sidewalk in Santiago. It only took a minute for me to fall in love with her work. There was something about the expression in the faces of her portraits that I loved. And now she is the artist who inspires …Issue 150.
Song of the week
Something good for your soul. This is a good one for your background music while you work, for sharing a glass of wine with a friend, or for your chilled session lying on the grass in the park on a bright sunny day.
Take a moment and enjoy this one.
Final thoughts:
Life is short, and the world can be harsh…but the music will always be good! Make sure your soundtrack to life is always solid.
“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.”
