🌿 What Would You Do If You Were Inspired? Issue 185

šŸ’« A Dose of Inspiration

Hello friends and family,

A beautiful warm hi. I know it’s the start of the weekend for some and the end of a work week for me. How is your September going? A few weeks into this month I am already seeing the magic of taking DOI to Social Media. If you don’t know yet I launched the IG and TikTok accounts… but decided for now to build on IG only.

I might regret it in a year but whatever…we continue with what feels right.

This week's theme is ā€œChange Your Mindā€

This week has been all about changing my mind, from the experiences I have had, to conversations with those around me. This is one of the key pillars I want to take into my older years.

I sometimes feel like an idea I hold about some part of my life works for only a season. That season may be a month, a year, or sometimes longer. But it all has an expiration date. I have held opinions on love, life, work, money, and more …these opinions at the time seemed so stable and rooted in beliefs but now years later seem either cringeworthy or laughable.

This is something on my list to build and grow for the future…the power of changing my mind. I think as we get older we have experiences that lead us to think that age and experience = truth and in some cases, it might but in most, it doesn’t. There may be a piece you have overlooked or a way of understanding it from a different perspective.

(Side note … there is a musician outside my window right now playing ā€œI Did It My Wayā€ on a saxophone...pure magic!)

Your task this week:

  • Take a moment to think about your ideas on everything. Are you holding a bit too tightly to them or do you have space to change your mind?

Remember each week, we are just moving one tiny step forward to creating a life you love.

šŸ¤™šŸ¾ Inspiration Labs

Inspiration Labs is a 1-hour call where we dive into your project, career, life, or big dream. This free session is to gain clarity, dream bigger, and walk out with 1 action step to start moving forward. This is the value I am adding back to the world šŸ’«

I will open new sessions weekly for this. To have this available to everyone, you are allowed 1 session only. (Sorry I wish, I had all the time in the world to only do this but I have to work too)

I hope this will change in our lifetimes. I see more content online, more men speaking out about it but it’s not enough. I think 2 or 3 more generations can shift it. This is very strong topic and urge everyone to check in on the men in their lives. They have been told to be strong but you never know what’s underneath. This is a great video and good conversation from 3 men I admire, I am proud of them for building this project of theirs and contributing to their communities.

šŸŽØ Artists Who Inspire

Paul Cocksedge

Something a bit different this week, take a walk into the brilliance of Paul Cocksedge and his incredible artwork. The light installation in the middle is something I have pinned to see in person. I love people who take up spaces and make them beautiful and functional. The world would be much better with more well-designed 3rd spaces.

šŸŽ¶ Song of the week

This one is gold! The algorithm sent this masterpiece to me. For all those with a drum beat in their soul and in need of the beauty of earthly sounds from Brazil…this one is for you.

Side note, sometimes I am searching for music and I hear something and I know exactly which subscriber will like it. This week for sure…Sira, it’s for you! Enjoy this magic.

I met Steph many years ago at a Pecha Kucha talk. She was one of the people who stood out the most during my time in Cape Town. Her dedication to the community and helping those around her is admirable. It’s been over 10 years of her serving her community. Cooking on big pots outside and making it happen consistently through donations from those around her.

This is a project based in South Africa. If you feel called to donate you can drop her a message at [email protected] or hit the link below and contact her via her Facebook account.

šŸ’« Send me info if you want to use this space šŸ™‚ Happy to help promote those who need it.

Final thoughts:

It’s so easy to get caught up in everything, this past week a friend reminded me that my life and work are someone’s dream. The fact that we make our dreams happen is not just for us but for those around us who look into our lives and find inspiration that they can do it too. Remember this when you are stalling on your dreams….
