🌿 What Would You Do If You Were Inspired? Issue 205

💫 A Dose of Inspiration

Hello friends and family,

I hope you are having a beautiful week. I am in the middle of preparing for another Dose of Inspiration event, this one is based on Life, and its question pack gave me tons of new angles to think about.

Like this: “When was the last time a simple, ordinary moment… a meal, a conversation, a street corner felt like pure magic?”

This week's theme is “Creating Magic ”

Most of our days are stitched together with routine, cleaning, laundry, bills, work, and the occasional social break. But how often do we step outside the script and try something new?

Recently, I showed a friend my map of Mexico City. Nothing unusual at first, until he noticed the groups of blue dots, chopsticks, celebration emojis, and turntables scattered across it. He laughed, a little shocked, at how I’d marked so many spots that it nearly covered some areas of the city.

Then he clicked on one. It was a carpet and furniture store. “Why this?” he asked. “You don’t even need furniture.”(True) I told him that on days when I’m craving inspiration, I wander into random places. Over the years, I’ve seen all the highlights…downtowns, churches, temples, plazas. But my best memories have never been in the guidebooks.

They live in conversations with ordinary people: Renz, the waiter in Santiago, writing his new song. Juanita, who sells snacks near my home. The Bedouin man in Petra who walked beside me, sharing stories of meeting his wife, their wedding, and his dreams for the future. (Okay, that one might stretch the “ordinary” part—but it was pure magic for me.)

And that’s the truth of it, magic doesn’t have to wait for big events. It hides in everyday life, waiting for us to notice.

Your task this week:

  • Look for moments in your life this upcoming week where you can spend 5 minutes to create some magic memories.

Remember, each week, we are just moving one tiny step forward to creating a life you love.

🤙🏾 Inspired by …

Would you start a business with no knowledge of it? A lot of people don’t take risks; they are scared of the unknown, comfortable in their daily routine, and feel “secure” working for a company. Building a business is one of the scariest, riskiest things you can do, but if it takes off, you could be free not only with money, but also with time.

This is a good reminder that some risks pay off in the best way possible.

🎨 Artists Who Inspire

Sanjo Lawal Artsman

I love this artist. Born in Lagos, he shares his colourful art with the world. Dripping in cultural references and highlighting his mom’s lace fabric from her store. He gives us a taste of Africa and reminds us that there is beauty in these other spaces often overlooked by the Western norm and standards of beauty.

I’ll be manifesting one of his artworks for my future home 🙂

If you have any favourite artists that you want to share, send them my way anytime.

🎶 Song of the week

If you haven’t thrown yourself into the world of the Black Pumas, let this be your sign. The soulful voice, harmonies, and depth of this group are unmatched. I can’t wait to see them live someday.

For this one, let them play loudly in the background while you do your daily life. And if you are not a fan of this one, search for your favourite concert and let that play.

Either way the music should be exceptionally good this month. (Why, because the world is on fire and we should be dancing while we protest this madness)

A little throwback to the Palace in Seoul, South Korea. Fun fact, they had underfloor heating back then. This was one of the many things that stood out about how advanced South Korea is.

Life is really what we make of it. The rollercoaster of it all guarantees ups and downs, and if you can ride this wave and find moments to smile, I guess you are doing okay.
