Hello friends and family,

This week, it’s a twist on this issue of A Dose of Inspo. Firstly, a beautiful Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there and those who give off mom energy to those around them.

A little love letter to the moms…

To be inspired by a woman hits your soul differently… It’s not just the force of accomplishments on their CV’s and LinkedIn Profiles. It’s the magic of the way they move through the world, lending an ear to someone whose problems are bigger than theirs … or not and truly giving them the space to be heard. It’s the way they prepare their favourite cup of tea to rebalance their energy on days that feel heavy and the way they organize their surroundings for peace and pleasure.

Now to be inspired by a mom… that is gold! A mother who knows when to call you, show up, remind you to wear a jacket or take a snack, a mother who saves the best part of a meal for you (even if it might be her favourite), it’s the waking up in early years to comfort you when you don’t have words to express your discomfort, to the constant reprioritising of her list to always place you ontop.

To be inspired by a mom…means her holding back her grief, bad days, and heaviness to ensure your world feels lighter. It’s the saying yes to things and making space for you ...because she cares. It’s the “I’m always here”…even though you might stress me out and today I really don’t like you as a person…” but I love you, and I am always here”.

To be inspired by a single mom…means seeing a woman hold it all together. Her work, the home, the kids, the emotions, the needs, the wants, the heaviness, the family structure …the everything. She holds it all and still greets you with a smile. A power unnoticed in a world of productivity, and in just a work sense.

"Want to see real productivity…go watch a mom for a day”.

To be inspired by a mom… means seeing a heart expand and break at the same time. To see a woman figure things out in real time on how to keep other humans alive. Not just in a moment but for years.

(Those with adult kids, do you understand this human is alive because of you…

You did well!)

To be inspired by a mom… means seeing someone live a good part of their life, always putting themselves second. Though this narrative is slowly changing, in reality, when you give birth to a whole human, it’s natural to want to make sure it survives.

Ah, to be inspired by a mom…it’s the softness on heavy days, the ‘having it all together’ and ‘holding it all together’, it’s the pain of health things that pop up, and your body feeling different from before, yet dressing up and moving on. It’s the emotional load of all of this …it’s finding some certainty in an uncertain world daily…and still moving on.

To all the moms and women who share mom energy and take care of those around you (thank you, Kim, for that bold reminder)…thank you for taking on this journey, for figuring it all out (sometimes twice, thrice …or more)…thank you for sometimes making it look effortless ... (yes some of you really make it look like this is a quick stroll in the park) …thank you for the inspiration for this issue.

May your mother’s day be felt every day.

May you take a moment to celebrate your journey and really celebrate yourself.
